Louisville woman dies in Dixie Highway collision

The Louisville Metro Police Department in Kentucky has reported that 36-year-old Cynthia Thomas was killed after a three-vehicle accident on Dixie Highway near the Jefferson and Hardin county line on February 22, according to WDRB.

Deputy Coroner Jim Wesley stated that Thomas lost her life the night of the accident after she was confined at the University of Louisville Hospital due to multiple blunt injuries. Three other people, including a child, were also taken to a hospital for treatment, although their conditions were not reported.

Dwight Mitchell, spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, said Thomas had been riding in the front passenger seat of a Toyota that was heading south on Dixie Highway hear Stites Station Road in West Point when the vehicle traversed into the northbound lanes and crashed into two Chevrolet trucks at around 1 p.m.

To give investigators space to probe into the fatal accident, this section of Dixie Highway was closed for four hours after the crash.


Kentucky attorney Darryl Isaac critically injured in bike accident

Well-known attorney Darryl Isaacs has been critically injured when the bike he was riding was hit by a motorist on Monday, January 19 at around 4:55 p.m. in Indian Hills, Kentucky.

Isaacs is currently at the University of Louisville Hospital.The Kentucky Trial Court Review said that Isaacs’ injuries were very serious. Kathy Lobb, the office manager for Isaacs’ law firm, did not want to comment on Issacs for reasons of privacy.

Police Chief Kelly Spratt said 20-year-old Michael Baumann, identified as the driver of the car that struck Isaacs’ bicycle along River Road, was not drinking at the time of the incident and is not currently facing charges.

Louisville two-vehicle accident kills one

Louisville Metro Police Department public information officer Carey Klain reported that 26-year-old Shelley Ann Hurt died in a two-vehicle accident early Sunday morning of January 18 at around 4 a.m., WDRB reported.

The accident occurred between Dixie Highway and Greenwood Road. According to reports, Hurt was the passenger in a Crown Victoria that cut off another vehicle while trying to turn into a business. The driver of the Crown Victoria was taken to University Hospital, while three occupants of the other vehicle were taken to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Eddie Robinson declared that the cause of death was blunt force impact injuries due to the crash. He noted that Hurt was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.

Authorities have determined that drunk driving may have been a factor that contributed to the collision.


Two-vehicle accident in Johnson County kills one

The Kentucky State Police has reported that 34-year-old Randall Powers died after being involved in a two-vehicle collision on Kentucky Route 3 in Van Lear, Johnson County, Kentucky on the morning of January 8, WSAZ reported.

The accident occurred around 5 a.m., according to statements made by Sheriff Dwayne Price. Official reports from the state police stated a car was traveling on the highway when the driver appeared to lose control; the vehicle hopped over the median and collided with an oncoming truck. The truck was sent sprawling over an embankment.

State police said Powers, the driver of the truck, succumbed to his mortal injuries a few days after the accident. He had not been wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident. Reconstruction methods were used to further investigate the case.
