Louisville Metro Police Department public information officer Carey Klain reported that 26-year-old Shelley Ann Hurt died in a two-vehicle accident early Sunday morning of January 18 at around 4 a.m., WDRB reported.

The accident occurred between Dixie Highway and Greenwood Road. According to reports, Hurt was the passenger in a Crown Victoria that cut off another vehicle while trying to turn into a business. The driver of the Crown Victoria was taken to University Hospital, while three occupants of the other vehicle were taken to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Eddie Robinson declared that the cause of death was blunt force impact injuries due to the crash. He noted that Hurt was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.

Authorities have determined that drunk driving may have been a factor that contributed to the collision.
