Man charged with murder in Jeffersontown pedestrian accident

Twenty-six-year-old Juan Carlos Ortega-Santos of Louisville was charged with murder after he allegedly struck and killed a 16-year-old female and a 10-year-old female with his car. The accident occurred near Taylorsville Road and Farrish Drive at around 9:45 p.m. last Tuesday, an arrest citation issued last Wednesday, June 22 showed.

According to preliminary investigations, Ortega-Santos was headed north on Taylorsville Road when he drove into the bicycle lane, where a group of four young girls were standing. Two of the four girls were hit by Ortega-Santos’ car. Ten-year-old Alena Clay was declared dead at the scene of the accident, and 16-year-old Tyeisha Lacy was transported to Kosair’s Children’s Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. A third girl sustained minor wounds and was also taken to Children’s Kosair’s Hospital.
