Asiana Airlines settles 72 injury claims from San Francisco crash

Posted on Wednesday, March 18th, 2015 at 9:30 am

A settlement between Asiana Airlines Inc. and 72 passengers who filed personal injury claims has been reached, although dozens of remaining cases have yet to be resolved, the Salt Lake Tribune reported on March 18.

Two years ago, the Boeing 777 airplane owned by Asiana Airlines crashed its landing in San Francisco, resulting in three deaths and almost 200 wounded.

How much compensation was given to these injured victims was not disclosed in the court filing. According to reports, the people who had agreed to settlements were those who had less serious injuries.

Inherent complexities in the design of the Boeing 777 airplane has resulted in some blame placed on the aircraft-maker, while U.S. safety investigators believed that the pilots had committed errors that resulted in the crash.

The entire team at the Sampson Law Firm is excited to announce that attorney Jeff Sampson was included in the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys‘ (NAOPIA) list of “Top 10 Attorneys” for the state of Kentucky in the practice area of personal injury. Fewer than 1% of attorneys hold this distinction. In order to be included in NAOPIA’s list of Top 10 Attorneys, an attorney must first be reviewed by another practicing attorney and meet NAOPIA’s strict membership criteria. Finally, a selection committee makes determinations on who will or will not be selected for inclusion in this list.

The Louisville Metro Police Department in Kentucky has reported that 36-year-old Cynthia Thomas was killed after a three-vehicle accident on Dixie Highway near the Jefferson and Hardin county line on February 22, according to WDRB.

Deputy Coroner Jim Wesley stated that Thomas lost her life the night of the accident after she was confined at the University of Louisville Hospital due to multiple blunt injuries. Three other people, including a child, were also taken to a hospital for treatment, although their conditions were not reported.

Dwight Mitchell, spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, said Thomas had been riding in the front passenger seat of a Toyota that was heading south on Dixie Highway hear Stites Station Road in West Point when the vehicle traversed into the northbound lanes and crashed into two Chevrolet trucks at around 1 p.m.

To give investigators space to probe into the fatal accident, this section of Dixie Highway was closed for four hours after the crash.
