Offender denied probation after pleading guilty to car theft

Twenty-three-year-old Louisville resident Herbert Lee, who has been in jail since February 2014 after pleading guilty to receiving stolen property and resisting arrested, recently appealed for shock probation, WLKY reported on May 4.

Sheila Stealer, Lee’s defense attorney, asked the courts for shock probation instead of the 10 years he was sentenced to, based on trauma that still affects him from a fatal crash he was charged for when he was 16.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Kristi Gray, however, denied Gray’s motion–a move she said had nothing to do with his juvenile record. Gray said that Lee has had opportunities to reform in the past, and he has continued to prove that he is a danger to the community.
