One dead and one hurt in Louisville single-vehicle accident

One individual lost her life and another sustained minor injuries after a single-vehicle accident, which occurred around 11 p.m. last Sunday, October 2. The accident happened as the driver attempted to use the ramp at Gene Snyder heading northbound to merge onto Interstate 64 East in Louisville.

The coroner identified the deceased victim as 28-year-old Jessica Smith, who was driving at the time of the accident. According to preliminary investigations, Smith lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to flip over. In the process, Smith and her male passenger were both thrown out of the vehicle. Police officers noted that neither the driver nor the passenger had a seat belt securing them at the time of the incident. They flipped and hit the guardrail on the interstate. Smith’s passenger is receiving treatment at University Hospital.

At the Sampson Law Firm, we see tragic accidents such as this one far too often. Our condolences are with the family of the victim as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
