One man hurt, another taken into police custody in McCracken single-vehicle crash

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department in Kentucky reported that a single-vehicle accident on Sunday, February 28 resulted in one person getting hurt and another getting arrested.

Emergency medical responders and police officers who came to the scene of the accident found 44-year-old Hodgenville resident Terry Wellnitz , the driver, and 52-year-old Daniel Owens, also of Hodgenville, standing near the door of the U-Haul truck they were traveling in minutes before the accident happened.

Wellnitz was subjected to field sobriety tests and was found to be driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance. He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

On the other hand, Owens was transported to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah to get treatment for his non-life-threatening injuries.
